Expert does not have any pre-requisites in certification. Currently

CCIE certification; the reason being that it is hard to pass the exam.
Exam Description
CCIE certification requires you to pass two exams; a written qualification
exam and corresponding lab exam. Recertification ensures that you
retain a meaningful technical expertise. Recertification requires
you to take written examinations.
Written Exams
- 350-001 CCIE Routing and Switching Written Exam is a two hour
exam with 100 multiple choice questions.
- 350-018 CCIE Security exam is a two hour multiple choice (100
questions) examination of two hours duration.
- Service provider’s exam is of two hours and contains
100 multiple choice questions. It is taken in various categories and
depends on the candidates chosen service area.

350-027 Metro Ethernet
- 350-040 Storage Networking exam is a two hour with 100
multiple choice questions as is of two hours duration.
- 350-030 Voice examination is a two hour exam with 100 multiple
choice questions.
Lab Exam
CCIE exam for the lab is what makes CCIE different. Cisco CCIE lab
is a full-day, hands-on exam tests ability to configure and troubleshoot

Recertification exams are many and are limited to only written format.

Expiration
- The initial CCIE exam for the lab must be taken within 18
months of passing the CCIE written exam
- Those who fail the lab exam must reattempt the lab exam within
12 months for their written exam to be valid.
- In case the candidate reattempts the lab exam but fails to
pass the lab exam within three years the written exam expires and
the candidate must appear and pass the written exam to take up the
lab exam.
- CCIE’s are required to pass a written recertification
exam every two years failing which their CCIE certification Status
remains suspended in the Cisco database.
