CompTIA: Entry Level Certifications To Networking And Security
CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association is dedicated
to the advancing growth of IT industry and those working in it. It
aims to advance industry growth through standards, professional competence,
and education and business solutions. The initiatives are in major
areas within the IT industry which are software services, Public policy,
IT training, e-commerce, convergent technology and certification for

Comptia has become a significant presence in the industry due to
its varied membership which range from manufacturers, developers
to Service Providers. Its members have access to industry research,
networking and partnering opportunities.
CompTIA certification is another way CompTIA serves the industry.
Its Vendor Neutral IT certification exams are broad based foundational
exams to validate the individual’s skill. A group of experts
provide the resources and subject matter to build the vendor neutral

A+ (Entry Level Computer Service)
This certification is achieved by passing two exams Core Hardware
exam and Operating system technologies exam. The topics covered under
‘Comptia a+’ are installation, configuration, troubleshooting,
and repair of computers along with basic networking.
CTT+ (Certified Trainer)
This is an advanced certification available to all training professionals.
It requires two exams (one computer based and one video performance
based). Comptia CTT+ certification proves excellence in preparation,
presentation, communication, facilitation and evaluation.
Network+ (Network Support and Administration)
This deals with technical know how for support and administration
of networking systems. It is an entry level certification. Comptia
Network certification tests the ability of a candidate in areas of
media and topologies, protocols and standards, network implementation,
and network support. Newer technologies like wireless networking and
gigabit Ethernet are also covered.
CDIA+ (Document Imaging and
Management)
Document imaging Industry is relatively new. The CDIA+ requires knowledge
in planning, designing and specifying an imaging system. Capture,
display, storage, standard computing equipment, integration and paper
handling and pre processing are the topics that are examined.
i-Net+ (Internet and Online Technologies)
i-Net+ deals with topics of addressing, caching, site performance,
formats in internet, intranet and extranet environments. Hardware,
software, connectivity, domains and security are also needed.
