Which Security Certification Is Good?
Here is a detailed list of security certification
NSCP - Network Security Certified Professional is from
learning tree with an approximate cost of $ 940 to $2750. This certification
has three core exams and one elective course (associated with the
exam)
RSA/CA - RSA Certified Administrator requires an exam and
costs around $150
RSA/CI - RSA Certified Instructors cost around $300 for
two exams and the pre-requisite for this is CSE or CA certification
+ Workshop
RSA/CSE - RSA Certified Systems Engineer cost around $150
for a single exam
SCNA - Security Certified Network Architect cost $180 per
exam and requires clearing two exams
SCNP - Security Certified Network Professional cost $150
per exam and requires clearing of two exams
Security+ is a certification from CompTIA in security and
is an entry level exam costing $199 for a single exam
SSCP - Systems Security Certified Practitioner cost around
$300 for a single exam of 125 questions to be completed in three
hours
TICSA - TruSecure ICSA Certified Security Associate costs
around $295 and the exam is of 70 questions to be completed within
90 minutes
TICSE - TruSecure ICSA Certified Security Engineer is obtained
after TISCA and requires you to clear one exam.

What You Need to Know about Security Certifications?
Many of these certifications do not relate to specific skills and
are too generic. Hackers are mainly an experienced body that spread
information rapidly and exploit the situations faster that the service
provider or product provider. In such event these professionals fail
and take a long time to figure out the problem.
Security is also viewed in combined form where those responsible
for physical security are taking on issues in IT security. A chief
security officer may have both a CPP and CISSP. There are many other
homeland security certifications that have grown since the 9/11
attack on the world trade center. There are approximately 55 different
vendors offering security certifications. Many new certifications
are coming out and outlining a few would be helpful CISSP, CISA,
CISM, CFE, GIAC, ITIL, BS7799, ISO27000, certifications from OISSG,
ISSA and so on and so forth.
CISSP and SANS GIAC are probably the best known and widely accepted
certification programs. CPP is another well known certification.
Other broader programs cover specific areas. Network certifications
also cover security on networks. These are different compared to
the security certifications given above. Network security being
an important concern; many network security certifications have
sprung up.
Security+ offered by Comptia is changing the entry level scenario.
It’s A+ and Network+ certifications have gained industry acceptance
certification comptia security training is attracting strong interest.
Many other higher level certification programs have included security+
as a pre-requisite for their exams.
The job responsibilities and pre-requisites are all different when
you look at the many certifications from the various bodies either
governmental or private associations of industry. All certifications
have one common aim that of “information security”.
